DATE: 30th JUNE – 2nd JULY 2027
Be part of cycling history and experience the excitement of the Tour de France like never before.
In 2027, the Tour de France returns to the UK for the first time in over a decade, with the Grand Départ taking place in the historic city of Edinburgh. Before the world’s best cyclists line up at the start, you’ll have the incredible opportunity to ride the opening stage yourself as part of this fully supported fundraising challenge.
This is far more than a cycling event. It’s your chance to experience the atmosphere, anticipation and excitement of one of the world’s most iconic sporting occasions before the professionals take to the roads. As towns and villages prepare to welcome the Tour, you’ll ride through the same spectacular scenery, tackle the same climbs and soak up the unique buzz that only a Grand Départ can create.
Whether you’re an experienced cyclist looking for your next unforgettable challenge or you’re searching for an inspiring goal to support a cause close to your heart, this challenge offers the perfect combination of adventure, achievement and fundraising. Every mile you ride will help make a difference while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
With Discover Adventure’s experienced crew supporting you every step of the way, you can focus on enjoying the one day ride on 1st July from Edinburgh to Carlisle, a journey of 120 miles with a total ascent of 7100 feet and only one categorised (Cat C) climb. From mechanical and medical support to feed stations and transfers, everything is taken care of so you can concentrate on crossing the finish line and celebrating an extraordinary achievement.
Take on one of the most unique cycling challenges of 2027, ride the opening stage of the Tour de France before the professionals, and help raise vital funds for a cause you care about.
Please note that, due to safety assessments, road closures and accessibility, there may be minor deviations from the exact Tour de France route. We will endeavour to follow the official route as closely as possible while ensuring any changes provide an equally enjoyable and rewarding experience.
